AMA Vintage Days, purported as America’s Largest Motorcycle Swap Meet, is held in July right here in Ohio at the Mid-Ohio Raceway in Lexington. A short hour’s drive from Columbus, it boasts two impressive vendor categories (infield and swap meet vendors), several types of moto racing, and the ever terrifying yet exciting Wall of Death, along with live music and educational opportunities. Truly an event for everyone!

From pre-event rides to weekend long camping, there is something for everyone at the AMA Vintage Days. You can come in for the day and catch a race or camp for the weekend and see everything this national event has to offer. Nicole and Dylan, of Throttle Company, only went one day this year, but we plan to return with a more formal plan next year because of everything there is to see and do here! One day is simply not enough time.

In the Swap Meet Field, you can find anything from custom garage signs to “diamond in the rough” bikes from small businesses and individual sellers. The Infield Vendors are often custom bike shops, larger motorcycle related companies and new parts sellers, as well as museum quality display bikes. Enter your bike into the multi-category contest and try your luck at winning the Grand Marshal’s Choice or Best of Show prizes.

I bought my first motorcycle, pictured middle below (1975 Honda CB360T), at this year’s AMA. It was practically the first bike we saw as we arrived to the Swap Meet Field. As this was my first year at AMA, and we didn’t have a trailer, there was definitely not an expectation that I would end up leaving with a bike! So, Dylan ended up riding it back to Columbus. The starter was not supposed to be working, but thankfully, he was able to get it to start and it rode back way better than expected! We’re excited to get working on it and get me on the road!

When you inevitably get tired of seeing motorcycles (wink, wink), you can enjoy the several live music or educational seminar opportunities. Be sure to check out the 2019 Itinerary to plan out your day (or weekend!) before you come so you don’t miss any opportunities!
